Product
We are proud to have cashew nuts from Burkina Faso in our range. In Burkina Faso produced some of the world's best cashew nuts. They are organic, Fair Trade certified and standard W320. They are short of the highest quality!
Cashew nuts are harvested and dried by farmers, and is then cleaned, dried and shelled of the women and men on Gebana factory. It provides higher quality, traceability and increased profits for farmers.
The company
We cooperate withPakka, A Swiss nøddefirma for import of cashew nuts directly from the companyGebana Burkina Fasoto Europe. Fairtrade certification gives farmers and workers in the plant thrive. The approximately 3,000 farmers get a better price for their product, andone fair trade bonus. Moreover, given the more than 450 women and men who work in the factory also has a salary of, and health system.
The country
Burkina Fasois characterized by huge poverty and internal conflict. In Burkina Faso live 40.1% of the population below the national poverty line and the number of internal refugees has increased significantly, by almost 1 million refugees at this time.
Close to 80% of people make money by farming, but unfortunately farmers poor conditions in that they have very little control over to whom -and how cashew nuts are sold. Often exported cashew nuts from Burkina Faso to Vietnam or India, reducing earnings for farmers.
