Solar lanterns on their way from Yemen

It was an idea we got in warfair: Let's integrate the solar lamp designed by Olafur Eliasson (Little Sun Diamond) in the historic and handmade lanterns made from the silversmith in the old city in Sana'a in Yemen.

That idea has now become a reality. In a very good cooperation with Yemen Journey and Little Sun we ordered 200 pieces and they have been made by the silversmith, with the help of 10 additional employees. Yemen Journey has had boxes made in Yemen and has organised the transport. The 200 lanterns are now on a ship from the port city of Aden to Rotterdam. They will be sold through Little Sun in both Europe and in the United States.

50 lanterns come here to Denmark around 1 January 2015. December, and can be purchased in the crowdfunding campaign we launch on Saturday.

The lanterns are a really positive story from a country where we hear mostly about war and conflict.

Production of the lanterns had largely stalled. Now it got going again. And in fact, it already looks like we're about to order more.

See more about the lanterns on the product page.

You can buy them in our Webshop.
